I couldn't help but respond because I have a kindergartener. He's five, almost six years old.
1) I teach him that the hundreds of crosses outside the churches represent babies that have been aborted, or killed while they were still inside their mommys' bellies. I taught him that I do not like that, I think it's mean and I am so happy that he was born.
2) I tell him that some people want to take daddy's allowance and give it to other people who did not earn it. I also tell him mom and dad give our money to people that need help. Then I ask him how he would feel if I took his allowance away and gave it to somone who did not help clear the dinner table.
3) I teach him what the American flag represents and how the first one was created using scraps of uniform material by revolutionary soldiers.
4) I teach him that those letters on my t-shirt (P-A-L-I-N) spell Palin. and the year 2012.
